Rust Skin Value Spread Index 2026

Compare a timestamped Steam Wallet asking-price reference with publicly observable operator deposit credit and withdrawal quotes, preserving unavailable values as unknown.

The synchronized reference item

Version 2026-08-28.1 uses one named item—Tempered AK47—for every row. On the checked English Steam Community Market listing, the displayed starting ask was $12.07 USD Steam Wallet. That number is a platform-denominated asking-price reference, not a guaranteed sale, cash-out value or amount a seller receives after fees.

The audit then looked for two signed-out public operator observations in the same window:

  1. balance units credited for depositing the exact Tempered AK47;
  2. balance units required to withdraw the exact Tempered AK47 from available stock.

No reviewed operator exposed both values in a complete synchronized public flow. The index therefore publishes no numeric inbound or round-trip spread.

Repeating the reference across rows makes the attempted comparison explicit. It does not imply that the item was present in each cashier or that any operator uses USD-equivalent balance units.

Download JSON or CSV. Version 2026-08-28.1 includes source IDs, UTC observation time, original unit, methodology, limitations and null operator fields.

The dataset is licensed CC BY 4.0. Cite “Best Rust Gambling Editorial,” this page and the version. Reuse must preserve the warning that Steam Wallet value is not cash-equivalent value and that transactions were not tested.

How a complete spread would be calculated

Let S be the Steam reference, D the operator deposit credit converted to the same comparable unit, and W the balance cost of withdrawing the same item.

  • Inbound difference: (S - D) / S
  • Operator round-trip difference: (W - D) / D
  • Reference-to-withdrawal difference: (W - S) / S

Those formulas should not be used if the units differ or quotes come from different times. If an operator uses gems, coins or another internal unit without a documented conversion, D and W cannot be compared directly with USD Steam Wallet.

For example only, if a same-time 10-unit external reference receives nine comparable deposit units and costs 10.5 comparable units to withdraw, the inbound difference is 10% and the operator round-trip difference is about 16.67%. The example is not a quote for Tempered AK47 or any reviewed site.

Why withdrawal documentation is not a quote

RustSnowball's public withdrawal guide says inventory and quoted costs are live. That supports a method field, not a numeric row. The value cannot be copied from a later cashier session and paired with this Steam observation without a new synchronized version. The same rule applies to every operator.

Steam trade history is also a movement record, not a valuation feed. It can show which item moved and to whom, but the site's credited balance must come from the operator ledger. Read the skin deposit and withdrawal guide before attempting to record a transaction.

Update protocol

A complete future row requires the exact item, original units, public URLs or reproducible captures, and one UTC observation window. Deposit and withdrawal records remain separate. If only one side becomes visible, that field can be added while the calculated spreads stay null.

The skin valuation explainer distinguishes Steam, cash and operator value. If an item seems to disappear during a trade, use the Steam inventory troubleshooting guide rather than assuming a pricing result.

The withdrawal documentation comparison provides the operator-level cashier context without turning documentation into a payout-speed claim.

Reproducible research record

Complete the record from one rules version and observation window; do not replace missing fields with estimates.
