Rust Upgrader Transparency Index 2026
A reproducible, public-source comparison of what two Rust skin upgraders disclose about probability, fairness, custody and settlement—not a safety or payout rating.
Evidence-led verdict
RustSnowball has the stronger checked public Upgrader specification. Its official pages publish the configured return, chance bounds, liability-based formula, custody sequence and a completed-round verification workflow. RustClash publishes a visible chance interface, general seed-commitment explanation and clearer named-company record, but the checked pages expose less Upgrader-specific math.
The result is use-case specific. It does not establish that either operator is safe, legal in a reader's location or faster at withdrawals.
Index results
Eight criteria carry 12.5 points each. Verified receives full weight, partial receives half, and not publicly verified receives zero. The same rule is applied to both operators.
| Rank | Operator | Score | Research labels | Use-case finding |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| #1 | RustSnowball | 81.25/100 | desk-researched + formula-check | The strongest checked public Upgrader specification: numeric economics, an exact chance formula, custody rules and a completed-round verification path are all documented. |
| #2 | RustClash | 43.75/100 | desk-researched | The checked pages provide a visible chance interface, a general seed-commitment explanation and stronger named-company documentation, but less Upgrader-specific public math. |
Criterion-by-criterion evidence
A missing public field stays unknown. The index never substitutes promotional language, a monitor response or an affiliate relationship for the required evidence.
| Criterion | RustSnowball | RustClash |
|---|---|---|
| Published RTP or edge 12.5 points available | verified Official Upgrader pages publish a 95% configured return, 90% maximum displayed chance and 1.03x sell settlement. 12.5/12.5 points · Evidence: rs-upgrader-game, rs-upgrader-odds, rs-upgrader-help | Not publicly verified The checked official Upgrader, fairness, terms and FAQ pages do not publish an Upgrader-specific RTP or house edge. 0/12.5 points · Evidence: rc-upgrader-game, rc-fairness, rc-terms |
| Exact chance calculation 12.5 points available | verified The official calculator and help page publish the source-value, liability, return-factor and flooring calculation. 12.5/12.5 points · Evidence: rs-upgrader-calculator, rs-upgrader-guide, rs-upgrader-help | partial The game displays chance, multiplier and roll bounds, but the checked pages do not publish the calculation connecting item values to that chance. 6.25/12.5 points · Evidence: rc-upgrader-game, rc-terms |
| Pre-play commitment 12.5 points available | verified The guide and help page say the stored transcript binds source and target quotes, amounts, zone and entropy before settlement. 12.5/12.5 points · Evidence: rs-upgrader-guide, rs-upgrader-help, rs-fairness-policy | partial The general fairness page describes a server-seed hash before PvE play and browser client seed, without an Upgrader-specific committed-field transcript. 6.25/12.5 points · Evidence: rc-fairness |
| Public round verifier 12.5 points available | verified Official documentation links a public checker and explains which revealed inputs reproduce a completed Upgrader result. 12.5/12.5 points · Evidence: rs-upgrader-guide, rs-upgrader-help, rs-fairness-policy | partial The Upgrader page exposes a Provably Fair entry point and the fairness page describes verification generally; the signed-out text does not expose the full Upgrader reconstruction algorithm. 6.25/12.5 points · Evidence: rc-upgrader-game, rc-fairness |
| Upgrader test vectors 12.5 points available | Not publicly verified A public test-vector feed exists, but the observed feed contains no Upgrader-specific vector. 0/12.5 points · Evidence: rs-test-vectors | Not publicly verified No official downloadable Upgrader input-and-expected-output fixture was found on the checked pages. 0/12.5 points · Evidence: rc-upgrader-game, rc-fairness |
| Skin custody and settlement 12.5 points available | verified The help and guide pages separate Steam deposit custody from play and document loss consumption, keep, sell and claim states. 12.5/12.5 points · Evidence: rs-upgrader-guide, rs-upgrader-help, rs-terms | partial Terms and FAQ describe selecting an Upgrader target, balance credit or Steam delivery, and store withdrawal, but do not publish a complete valuation and custody sequence. 6.25/12.5 points · Evidence: rc-terms, rc-questions |
| Operator, KYC and withdrawal documentation 12.5 points available | partial Terms document KYC and withdrawal conditions, but the checked pages identify the operator only as RustSnowball and its affiliates rather than naming a legal entity. 6.25/12.5 points · Evidence: rs-terms | verified Terms name Rust Clash Entertainment Ltd; terms, AML policy and FAQ describe verification and redemption conditions. 12.5/12.5 points · Evidence: rc-terms, rc-aml, rc-questions |
| Evidence freshness 12.5 points available | verified The game rules and Upgrader guide show checks or update dates from 29 August 2026 and were re-observed for this index. 12.5/12.5 points · Evidence: rs-upgrader-odds, rs-upgrader-guide, rs-upgrader-help | partial Terms show a 26 January 2026 update date, while the checked Upgrader and fairness pages expose no comparable page-level update date. 6.25/12.5 points · Evidence: rc-upgrader-game, rc-fairness, rc-terms |
RustSnowball formula check
The published example uses 1,000 minor units of source value and a 2,500-unit skin target. Applying the published 1.03× sell liability gives 2,575 minor units. Flooring source value × 950,000 ÷ liability reproduces 368,932 parts per million, or 36.8932%, matching the expected value.
Formula check passed This is a local arithmetic reproduction, not a wager, code audit, randomness test or transaction test.
What each operator documents well
RustSnowball
- Publishes a 95% configured return, 0.5%-90% chance limits and a 1.03x sell-settlement rule.
- Explains the quote formula, integer probability units, pre-play transcript and post-round verification flow.
- Separates Steam deposit custody from the later, explicit Upgrader confirmation.
RustClash
- Shows chance, multiplier, target selection and roll-under or roll-over controls on the signed-out Upgrader page.
- Publishes a general server-seed hash and browser client-seed explanation that lists Upgrader among covered games.
- Names Rust Clash Entertainment Ltd and publishes KYC and redemption-related policy information.

RustClash
- No Upgrader-specific RTP, house edge or exact chance formula was found on the checked official pages.
- No downloadable Upgrader test vector was found.
- No account, deposit, wager, KYC process, support response or withdrawal was transaction-tested.
Methodology and limits
Every finding must point to a checked official operator page. A verified criterion requires the full public field described below; partial means the documentation supports only part of it. Not publicly verified means the field was not found in the checked source set, not that the feature cannot exist.
- Published RTP or edge: The operator publishes upgrader-specific return or house-edge economics rather than a generic fairness statement.
- Exact chance calculation: The public material explains how source value, target liability and rounding produce the displayed probability.
- Pre-play commitment: A public explanation identifies what is fixed or cryptographically committed before the result can be known.
- Public round verifier: A signed-out public route or documented workflow lets a reader reconstruct a completed round.
- Upgrader test vectors: The operator publishes synthetic Upgrader inputs and expected outputs that can be reproduced without placing a wager.
- Skin custody and settlement: Public documentation separates deposit custody from play and explains what is consumed, credited, kept, sold or withdrawn.
- Operator, KYC and withdrawal documentation: The checked pages identify the operator and document verification and withdrawal conditions. This is not a licence or payout assessment.
- Evidence freshness: Material game and policy pages show a recent review date or another clear version marker that readers can recheck.
Each SHA-256 contentHash fingerprints the normalized supportedClaims snapshot stored with that source, not the entire remote HTML response.
- Archived August 2026 specification: the October help, odds and calculator now state a 90% chance factor and Gem-funded SkinsBack settlement. This snapshot’s 95% formula and scores do not describe current terms.
- The index measures public documentation completeness and reproducibility, not safety, legality, solvency, payout speed or customer satisfaction.
- No account was created and no deposit, wager, KYC process, support response or withdrawal was tested.
- Not-publicly-verified means the required information was not found in the checked official sources; it does not prove the feature is absent.
- A formula check reproduces published arithmetic only. It does not audit production code, randomness, custody or settlement.
- Availability, live inventory, quotes and account-specific conditions can change after the observation date.

One quote, two value bases
Hypothetical example, not an operator quote.
A 10-credit source, 20-credit target and 45% chance imply 90% return in site credits. If the source is worth 8 in cash and the target 14, cash-equivalent return is 78.75%. Fees and stock constraints are excluded.
